The Technical Universityof Denmark, i.e. DTU Aqua, and the European Environment Agency will host a workshop on Transatlantic Ocean Literacy, during the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) Annual Science Conference week, on 24-25 September in Copenhagen.
The event will focus on U.S.-EU cooperation on placing marine research in societal context, engaging the public and educating future researchers in how to capitalise on Ocean Literacy in the interest of addressing Blue Growth objectives in future Horizon 2020 calls. The objective is directly related to EU agenda on bridging the science-society divide through greater science literacy and public participation in the research and innovation process (http://ec.europa.eu/research/conferences/2015/era-of-innovation/index.cfm).
Ocean Literacy experts from NOAA, Un Connecticut, UC Berkely and Un Rhode Island will compliment two funded Horizon2020 project participants (H2020 ResponSEAble and H2020 SeaChange).
